Ned Place and his colleagues at Cornell's College of Veterinary Medicine have teamed up with NOAA to reveal striking hormonal abnormalities in dolphins from Barataria Bay, LA, compared to a control site in Sarasota, FL. Dolphins in the oil spill-impacted bay have abnormally low levels of adrenal hormones, including the stress hormone, cortisol. This study is part of the ongoing Deepwater Horizon Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA).
